Welcome to my site! My name is Ronnie, and my life journey (so far) has been an incredible tapestry of experiences, cultures, and creative endeavors. Born in the vibrant land of Cuba, my family immigrated to the United States when I was just seven years old. Settling in the dynamic cities of Miami and Dallas, I discovered the true essence of "being a stranger in a strange land" from an early age and the power of resilience. Since I was a kid, I remember not being quite "American" enough to be American or "Cuban" enough to be entirely Cuban. That might be the reason why I have always been a keen observer of things around me, and that observation has paid off!

 

In 2007, I answered the call to serve and joined the Army as a Medic. For six years, I dedicated myself to providing care to those in need, serving two vital deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. These experiences were defining moments in my life and shaped my unwavering commitment to making a positive impact. As I always like to say, "Iraq was fun for me. Afghanistan…not so much!" I felt I'd gotten the full taste of Army life and all it had to offer me, so again, I decided to become a Stranger in a Strange Land. 

 

Upon an honorable discharge from the military, I embarked on a new remarkable chapter. Fueled by a desire for reinvention, I pursued a new path that would allow me to weave my creativity into the fabric of the world. This led me to the world of Film, Television, and Digital Media production at the School of Entertainment and Design Technology, where I earned a Bachelor of Applied Science degree.

 

Since then, my journey has taken me through the diverse realms of the film industry. From the bustling sets of Miami films to the imaginative world of Nickelodeon shows like "I am Frankie" and even the enchanting narratives of Colombian Soap Operas filmed in South Florida— I've ventured into nearly every department, from production assistant to art direction.

 

Yet, my true passion lies in storytelling. I've directed numerous small films, mini-documentaries, and short-form projects, each a unique facet of my ever-evolving creative expression. Among my proudest achievements is the award-winning feature documentary "The Hike Back," produced by Irreverent Warriors. This heartwarming documentary swept through the film circuit in 2022, has garnered accolades from various corners, and earned a place of honor at the Library of Congress and the Embassy in London.

 

I find fulfillment in capturing moments, piecing together images, and crafting emotionally resonant narratives. I believe in the transformative power of storytelling and its ability to bridge cultures, touch hearts, and inspire change. Each project I undertake is an opportunity to share a part of myself with the world and to connect with others on a profound level.
